Cost Guide 2025

Kitchen Cabinet Cost Guide

Stock vs. semi-custom vs. fully custom — what cabinets actually cost, what drives the difference, and how to maximize your budget.

Stock Cabinets

$5,000–$10,000

Examples: Hampton Bay, American Woodmark, Aristokraft, Schuler

Pre-built in standard size increments. Limited door styles and finishes. Particleboard box construction in most lines. Fast availability. Best for rentals, secondary kitchens, and budget-only projects. Not recommended for primary kitchen renovations in Westchester.

Best for: Rental properties, secondary spaces, tight timelines

Semi-Custom Cabinets

$15,000–$35,000

Examples: KraftMaid, Kemper, Fabuwood, Bellmont, Merillat, Diamond, Shenandoah, Waypoint

Built to order in 3-inch size increments. Wide door style and finish selection. Plywood box construction in premium lines. 4–8 week lead time. The right choice for most Westchester primary kitchen renovations.

Best for: Primary kitchens — the best value tier

Premium Semi-Custom

$25,000–$50,000

Examples: Medallion, Omega, StarMark, Dura Supreme, Kitchen Craft

Custom sizing available. Wider door style depth. Inset door options in some lines. Closer to custom quality at semi-custom speed. A strong choice when semi-custom basics aren't enough but full custom is out of budget.

Best for: Kitchens where custom sizing or inset doors are desired

Fully Custom Cabinets

$40,000–$120,000+

Examples: Wood-Mode, Cabico, Plain & Fancy, Rutt

Made to exact specifications — any size, any finish, any configuration. Hand-applied finish options. Made in USA or Canada by skilled craftspeople. 8–14 week lead times. The benchmark of American cabinetry.

Best for: Luxury kitchens, complex layouts, inset door standards

What moves the number up or down

  • Number of cabinets and linear feet
  • Door style (flat-front vs. shaker vs. raised-panel)
  • Finish (painted costs more to produce than stained)
  • Accessories (pull-out trays, rollouts, built-in organizers)
  • Installation complexity (island configuration, ceiling-height upper cabinets)
  • Specialty items (glass doors, open shelving, appliance garages)
