A complete guide to what you need to prepare, decide, and do at every stage of your bathroom renovation — before, during, and after construction.

Before You Begin

  • Determine your total budget range
  • Identify your must-haves vs nice-to-haves
  • Measure your bathroom (approximate is fine for early conversations)
  • Collect 5–10 bathroom inspiration images
  • Identify any known problems (leaking, mold, outdated plumbing)
  • Confirm who the decision-makers are (important for design process)
  • Decide on your approximate timeline

During Design

  • Review and approve floor plan and elevation drawings
  • Select tile for shower walls, floor, and any accent areas
  • Select vanity style, size, and finish
  • Select countertop material (quartz, marble, quartzite)
  • Select toilet style and brand
  • Select shower plumbing fixtures (valve, showerhead, handles)
  • Select faucet(s) for vanity
  • Confirm lighting layout and fixture selection
  • Confirm mirror or medicine cabinet style
  • Review written scope of work before signing contract

While Construction Is Underway

  • Clear bathroom and adjacent hallways before demo begins
  • Make alternative bathroom arrangements for the renovation period
  • Keep a list of questions for your project manager
  • Review progress photos shared by our team
  • Approve any change orders in writing before work proceeds
  • Avoid visiting the active job site without your project manager present

Before Final Walkthrough

  • Review the punch list with your project manager
  • Test all fixtures, faucets, and shower systems
  • Check that heated floor thermostat is programmed and functioning
  • Verify all grout lines are consistent and sealed
  • Check cabinet doors and drawers for alignment
  • Confirm all inspections have passed

After Completion

  • File all warranties from manufacturer and labor
  • Receive care instructions for natural stone countertops and tile
  • Note annual sealing schedule (if applicable to your materials)
  • Register appliances and fixtures with manufacturers
  • Leave a Google review if you're satisfied
